VSO India Strategy Workshop

This past week, Gina and I went to a Strategy Workshop for VSO India. It was held at a hotel in Gurgaon, which is a suburb of Delhi. We left ISI on Tuesday and arrived after an uneventful 2 hour drive. We had the rest of the day to enjoy the hotel, so after a very nice lunch, Gina and I settled in to our respective hammocks and read the afternoon away.

On Wednesday, the workshop started. Let me preface by saying that I think it's great that VSO India invited us newbies to provide input on their strategy. This, along with many other things have made Gina and I feel like a part of the VSO India family. Throughout the the two day workshop we learned about the development trends in India, VSO's proposed strategy, and also how some of VSO's partner NGOs are making a difference. I got to meet a couple partners in person and had some great discussions about India and the U.S.

The workshop ended on Thursday, Nov. 26th, AKA Thanksgiving for us Americans. Gina and I were really touched because the VSO staff made an announcement to the group about Thanksgiving and we had a special T-day lunch with roasted chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie!
